Mountains Projects offers vital support to all of our service users, especially those facing challenges related to domestic violence. Victims and survivors who are self-isolating may find it difficult to access support or escape an abusive situation when they otherwise could. Self-isolating while living with an abuser can also heighten the risk of harm.
The following provides an overview of the support services available to victims and survivors during the outbreak. Most services have reduced face-to-face appointments and groups but continue to provide domestic violence support remotely and over the phone. Some services may have reduced capacity, so we advise checking the websites of these services for up-to-date information, if possible.
Support from the police remains steadfast. There are measures they can take to remove an abuser from the home if someone is at risk. In an emergency, please always call 999, or for non-emergency support, call 101. Safeguarding teams and specialist investigators are on duty 24/7 to provide advice and help. Police stations remain open, although for many, visiting them may not be practical. Additionally, for those in need, housing support for women is available to ensure safe accommodations, while mental wellbeing services can help with the emotional impact of these challenging situations.
